Butch Cassidy Robert Redford and Paul Newman rob trains like no-one else can.
The tension between their characters make them the perfect movie pair. I've
seen this movie so many times, I know the background music! The movie goes in
and out of production, but it's available used all the time. |

Milagro
Beanfield War A beautiful,
whimsical tale that really shows the magical spirit of New Mexico. It is the
story of one farmer's fight against the rich and powerful. The good guys win,
and Christopher Walken is an incredible bad guy. |
 |
Smoke Signals The spirit of the reservation lives in this first movie ever made
by an all-Indian crew (and based on the great writing of Sherman Alexie). It is
poignant and funny all at once, with great characters that stick in your mind.
I frequently smile, picturing Thomas and his grandmother giggling quietly over
dinner. After seeing Smoke Signals, you will want to read everything Sherman
Alexie has written (see our book list for more). |

True
Lies Great action, great
Schwarzenegger, even a great Tom Arnold (it's hard to say that, ever, but it's
really true here). The scene where Schwarzenegger's character tells his wife
(Jamie Lee Curtis) that he is a spy is worth the whole price of the movie.

Run Lola
Run Lola has to help her boyfriend
out of a jam - finding 100,000 deutsche marks in 20 minutes. Life's twists and
turns happen faster than you can imagine, until that 20 minutes is up. And THEN
it first gets interesting! This movie is so fast-paced that after it's over,
you will be out of breath - really. |

Indiana
Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones, archaeologist and adventurer,
whose quests for rare antiquities find him running from evil menace to evil
menace. I would love to be Indiana Jones - smart and strong and bookish and
fearless (well almost). I even have an Indiana Jones hat, but mine doesn't
always stay on the way Harrison Ford's does. |

What's Up
Doc? Screwball comedy at its best, and still hysterically funny after
30 years. Barbra Streisand, Ryan O'Neal and Madeline Kahn are hilarious. Lizzie
and I laughed so hard the dog was getting riled up! |
 |
Wayne's World Don't think worse of me when I say that this is one of the
touchstones of my life. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey negotiating the fine legal
points of a contract? The Bohemian Rhapsody scene is worth the whole movie.

 |
Men In Black Action
adventure and comedy all in one. Will Smith is funny and Tommy Lee Jones is
funnier! The Men in Black are a team of secret agents keeping tabs on
extra-terrestrials in New York City. When you're in New York and think many of
the folks you see are from another planet, this movie will prove you right.
Great fun, every bit of it. |
 |
Horse Feathers This is both Lizzie and my favorite Marx Brothers movie. Groucho
as college president, singing "Whatever it is, I'm against it." Harpo and Chico
as football players. You'll have to watch it twice to hear all the one-liners.
The password is "Swordfish" for this hugely funny movie. |

Lone
Star John Sayles directed this richly
layered whodunit, set in a Texas border town. The sheriff is investigating a
skeleton and a crusted-over badge found after 40 years, all the while haunted
by his deceased father, the former sheriff and the only one the town really
recognizes in that role. Great drama, great directing, great
acting. |

L.A.
Story If you like Steve Martin, you will
love L.A. Story. As a matter of fact, this movie can even make you like L.A.!
It is silly and magic and warm and every bit Steve Martin. When I watch this
movie, I realize that Steve Martin is the only man for me. |

The Never Ending
Story A delightful movie of fantasy and
adventure. Bastian borrows a mysterious antique book that makes him a character
in its story. Beautiful and imaginative and everything you'd want in a kids'
film. |
